Community Service
History
I have held an officer position in the National Honor Society at my school for my junior and now my senior year. For my junior year I was the secretary for the club where I created two new types of service projects fro the community that have never been done before at the school. For my upcoming senior year, I was elected to be the president of the club.
Additional Info
One of the new projects I started last year was for the organization Hearts for Kylee. This organization holds a special place in my heart as I was very close to the little girl who the organization is named after. The family of the late toddler created this organization as a way to raise awareness for childhood cardiac diseases. The organization collects a variety of toiletry items and bandages to donate to the families of children who suffer from some of the same diseases that Kylee passed away from. As my service project for the month of February, I posted flyers around our school and to our club that we would be accepting various toiletry items to donate to Hearts for Kylee. At the end of the month, we collected over 150 items to donate. Once the organization received the donations, they create baskets to give to all of the families who are waiting multiple nights in the hospital while their children recover from treatments or surgeries.
