Community Service
History
I volunteered for two years at the Mesa Welcome Center for immigrants and refugees. At the center, adults and youth have the opportunity to receive tutoring in English and help with cultural adaptation. My role involved organizing events for the youth and spending time with them. Unfortunately, I was unable to continue volunteering because I moved away for college, but the experiences I had at the center were impactful. I have also been able to use my musical talents as a tool for community service. For several years now, I have played Christmas music on my violin for seniors at various assisted living centers. I am unable to continue this tradition in person this year due to COVID-19, but am currently looking into ways to share this music with them virtually.
