Education History
• I attended Sacred Heart Nativity School, a Jesuit,
• private middle school serving mainly underprivileged Latino students in the downtown San Jose area. It was largely known for sending its students to prestigious San Jose high schools as a way to "break cycles" – to spur new generational change within the Latino community.
• I then had the fortune of attending Bellarmine College Preparatory, a prestigious Jesuit high school in San Jose, CA. However, due to difficult family circumstances outside of school and my own mental health issues, I was unable to take full advantage of the many opportunities on that high school campus. After graduating and being rejected from almost all of the universities I applied to, I elected to attend community college
• For the last three years, I have been attending Southwestern College in Chula Vista, CA, and will be completing my final year there for the school year of 2021-22. During this time, I have nurtured a determination in my academics, maintaining a 3.74 GPA as I look to pursue a degree in Computer Science (while also balancing my work schedules and my own personal passions outside of school). Having found this renewed strength to focus and study, I am hoping to have the opportunity to transfer to such universities as UC Berkeley and Stanford.

Succeeded in my studies and earning my Bachelor's degree in Computer Science would mean a resounding success for my family. Having grown up in a single-parent household nearly all my life, it would likewise be a testament to the fight in my mother. Additionally, I would be the first on my dad's side of the family to attend university, while being part of the second generation after my mother's to pursue higher learning in the United States.
When I am older, I wish to have the means to support my mother – a middle school teacher – and my father – a construction worker. Earning a degree would help make that aspiration more tangible.

Additional Info
During my years in community college, I have balanced school, work, and my own personal passions in music and art.
I am especially proud of my strides in music and art, which continue despite my responsibilities (and main priorities) in school and work. For example, beginning in my second year of community college, I decided to take up the guitar and study music theory on my own time. For two years now, I have practiced almost piously, and my efforts have awarded me with the ability to play music and discuss theory with music majors and professionals themselves. I hope to one day then, after completing my computer science studies, to pursue my aspirations as a musician and artist.
