Dark Night: Hurricane Maria is an, 16 x 24, acrylic over canvas painting I did back in 2017. This work of art was inspired by the lightless nights in Puerto Rico after the Hurricane Maria destroyed everything in its way. Also, the experience I lived that year marked me deeply, that is why I decided to let my art flow. Mainly, I inspired myself with the situation of the powerless Puerto Rico that my family and I lived 6 months. Whereas, one night I started taking pictures in dark with a flashlight from different perspectives, then the next morning I took my canvas and just created. As well as that, I used different expressions to portrait the fear, the bitterness and awful things I knew my Puerto Rico were feeling at the time. Lastly, the background is an abstract representation of all the chaos that Maria brought. I did tis painting in black and white because it captures the desperate times we lived.
