Additional Info
One of the many extracurricular activities I take part in is sailing. Sailing is one of my joys that I experience during the summer. I sincerely believe that my enjoyment primarily derives from the people and environment around me rather than the sport itself. Furthermore, my competitive spirit pushed me to persistently fight to be better, often challenging better sailors to improve my own abilities. In addition to competing in regattas, I also work as an Instructor Apprentice (and this year a Senior Instructor) to teach children the basics of sailing. I hope that my efforts at Community Boating Center will inspire a new generation of sailors to enjoy the unique sport. I generally am employed full-time in the summer, when most of the programs start. But, I also have been given part-time hours when needed.

Additional Info
My longest standing work in community service is at “Grace Episcopal Church of New Bedford”. For the past nine years, I have constantly engaged in contributing to my community by acting as a Lead Acolyte or a role model towards those younger than me. My time at Grace Church was not only as a Lead Acolyte but a participating member in the Youth Choir there. My total community service hours at Grace amounts to 300 hours.
On top of my devotion to Grace, I also participated in their mission trip in 2017. This volunteer work allowed high schoolers to travel to Ecuador and to immerse themselves in their culture there. Immersion played a vital role in the theme of our trip, as we decided not to build houses for the poor but to build relationships there. This difference was acknowledged by the locals, leading to a more cultural understanding of one another. This work lasted for nine days.
For the past three years, I have worked and volunteered at “Community Boating Center of New Bedford”. As an instructor apprentice, I was able to develop relationships and connect to children of all age groups. My role as a teacher allowed me to discover my love for sailing, while also teaching younger generations about the environment and our effect on it. In my first year of employment, I decided to take a half pay and half community service directive, allowing me around 300 hours of community service hours.
In 2017 I received my black belt in Tang Soo Do from Mr. Silva, teaching out of YMCA of New Bedford. My official title allowed me to become a lead instructor at Silva’s Tang Soo Do.
Also in 2017, I joined the FIRST robotics team, 5846 that is based in University of Massachusettes. From my past experience in CAD, I was able to claim the title of Head CADer as my own. From my participation in FRC team 5846, I was able to become a FIRST Lego League referee giving me twenty more hours in community service.
