Education History
My family moved to Pueblo West, Colorado when I was in middle school. It was there that I graduated from Pueblo West High School in May 2017. I know am attending college where I am earning a Bachelor's Degree. In the beginning my major did change a few times, but always stayed somewhere in the field of science. Now, my official major at Colorado State University is in Biochemistry with a concentration in Health and Medical Sciences and I am also minoring in Molecular Biology. I will now (as of Fall 2019) be heading into my third year of college and I am still planning on graduating within 4 years.
Awards
Dean's list fall 2017, Dean's list fall 2018, Key Community member of the year 2017, Outstanding Service award (group award) through Slice Adaptive Swim Program.
Additional Info
These past two years in college have already taught me so much, from information gained in my courses to being able to better connect with my peers and mentors. However, when I am not in class or office hours, I am usually doing research for the lab I am a part of. In that lab, I research aspects of RNA localization as well as translation and transcription at the molecular level. This coming year I am also about to start my own thesis project for graduate school, my plan after undergraduate, where I will do my own research project and attempt to answer unknown questions in the world of science!
I am also the secretary of the chemistry club and have been a member since my first year at college and the Vice President of Academic Excellence in my sorority on campus, Kappa Kappa Gamma. In addition, I am also fortunate enough to be a part of the Slice Adaptive Swim group through Colorado State University, where I spend a couple hours every week talking to and being there for people who have mental and physical handicaps. This program has aided in me understanding how those with disabilities live, but more importantly has given me new friendships, memories, and a better understanding of other's hardships.
Lastly, I was just recently given the opportunity to become a Learning Assistant for an Organic Chemistry course at Colorado State University, where I will be working closely with students in the class and the professor. This is very exciting to me because I am aspiring to become a college professor and I believe this position will allow me to truly see how I can accomplish that.
Additional Info
I am currently aspiring to be a college professor where I wish to teach a course in the field of science. In addition, I am working toward having my own research lab once I am a professor and have gone through graduate school and a post doc.
Community Service
History
I participate in community service through the Slice Adaptive Swim program at Colorado State University. In addition, I participate in community service through my sorority where we are a part of CSUnity. This is a school-wide activity that many organizations take part in. My group is assigned to someone in the community that needs help and we serve them and their business or home as they see needed for the day.
