I have been taking sketching classes for most of my life. I have recently developed an interest in watercolor, so I now alternate between sketch and watercolor projects. In my class, there’s a variety of kids who come and go, predominantly Chinese immigrants, ranging from age 6 to 18 with differing skill ranges. Last year, I was awarded two Scholastic Silver Keys for two of my sketch pieces.

Overseas Youth English Teaching Volunteer Service Program

Through the Overseas Youth English Teaching Volunteer Service Program, I was able to travel back to Taiwan to teach English to kids living in the rural Nantou County. For two weeks, I lived at YongKang Elementary school, spending 8 hours a day as a teacher and using the rest of my time lesson planning and bonding with my teaching group of 7 other young adults from different parts of the U.S.
