While interning at Weill Cornell, I learned to combine my knowledge in R and lab work to investigate treatments for the Zika Virus via neural stem cells, but my research was cancelled due to COVID-19.
Performing computational biology research with the Minkui Lou Lab of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, I used R, Excel, and Python to develop two algorithms which mathematically determine whether a pharmaceutical targeted the spread of cancer, a process responsible for ~90% of cancer-related deaths. My algorithms outperform the previously used published algorithm in speed, efficiency, and applicability. My research has made me a semifinalist at the NYC JSHS Fair, first place in medicine and health sciences at the Terra NYC STEM Fair, and a representative of NYC at ISEF.

Additional Info
Pre-pandemic: Introduced and taught chess at local library to local elementary school children. During the pandemic, I organized, ran, and hosted a virtual chess program for NYPL over google hangouts, teaching 50+ kids globally. I created chess tournaments, taught the fundamentals of the game, encouraged struggling players by providing learning materials and other resources, and fostered camaraderie amongst atendees. My program was targeted towards primary school students who lacked the resources to learn the game of chess otherwise.
