• "Pathway to Health Professions" at UTSA. Hours: ~500 (40 hours per week, 6 weeks a year, for 2 years in 10th/11th grade). Participated in a medical pre-professional program at a local institution, UTSA. Worked under the guidance of University professors and UT medical student mentors. During 6 week program, scrutinized healthcare from 3 paradigms: physiology, sociology, philosophy. Researched the pathogenesis of alcoholic liver cirrhosis. Invaluable experience in microbiology, cadaver lab facilities. Wrote weekly examinations on assimilated content. Graduated with distinguishments for academic excellence.
• "Department of Emergency Medicine KFSH." Hours: 80 (40 hours per week, 1 week per year, for 2 years 11th/12th grade). Shadowed emergency physician at a local hospital. Observed 4 emergency, code green procedures. Conducted endotracheal intubation. Witnessed triaging services, interpersonal patient-interactions, and ICU. Participated with EMS, was assigned to shadow the first female paramedic in the KSA. Attended lessons with medical students from local medical school. Involved in a clinical case report regarding a post-transplant complications due to prescribed medication. Work ethic recognized by Chairman.
• "Student Clinical Researcher." Hours: 260 (10 hours per week, 26 weeks per year, for 1 year 12th grade). This retrospective cohort study evaluates the control of diabetes in patients who have undergone solid organ transplantation.It assesses link between transplant survival rejection with the control of diabetes to extrapolate what measures may be required to improve the health of this cohort of patients.I’m participating in the data collection process,reviewing medical records of study-eligible patients,entering data into REDcap database,and writing the final publication. Approved by ethics board.
• Vice-President, Voluntary Teacher at "Letters for Change NPO" Hours: 480 (5 hours per week, 32 weeks during the year, for 3 years 10th/11th/12th grades). Student-led NPO, furthers English comprehension of underprivileged Saudi children. I’ve designed and taught 9 comprehensive curriculums. 150 students; 6,500 SAR raised. Working with the Ministry of Education.
